Orange Jellied Candies. This old fashioned treat tastes great either plain or dipped in chocolate.
2-1/2 TB. Grayslake Gelatin
1/4 Cup Cold Water
2 Cups Granulated Sugar
1/2 Cup Warm Water
1/2 Cup Orange Juice
1/4 Cup Lemon Juice
Orange Liquid Food Color
6-8 drops of Orange Oil
Combine cold water and Grayslake Gelatin in a small bowl or a cup; stir quickly to moisten gelatin. Set aside about 5 minutes. Break up into small pieces with a spoon or a spatula.
In a saucepan combine sugar and warm water; cook, stirring constantly to 255 degrees (F). Remove from heat, add gelatin and stir until completely dissolved. Add juices and blend thoroughly. Add coloring and orange oil and mix. Pour into a 9 inch square buttered pan. Let set until firm. Do not refrigerate. Cut into 1 inch squares and roll in powdered sugar or dip in melted chocolate.
